What is the difference between the market value of my home and the replacement value calculated by the insurance company?

When you purchase a home, you’re paying market value which includes the value of the land as well as the building that sits on it. In contrast, the replacement value of the home (which is what we’re interested in insuring) is what it would cost to rebuild the home if it were to be destroyed.
